How to Dress Like a Local in Israel
So you're about to embark on a journey to the Holy Land but do not want to stick out like a sore thumb. The trick is to dress comfortably and also in keeping with the local customs. Here are some tips on how to mingle with the locals in Israel.
You can wear your designer clothes if you are comfortable wearing them. The weather can get a little hot even during cooler months, and it would make sense to dress accordingly. Keep your outfits loose fitting and comfortable as much as possible. This will allow you to keep your cool while enjoying your stay there. If you think your designer wear fits the bill and can survive the conditions, by all means go ahead and use them.
You may want to consider appropriate headgear as well. Women can try some of the scarves available locally. These keep out the sun while also serving the purpose of keeping the head covered, especially in.
If you are fond of wearing heels, go ahead and flaunt them by all means! You will not feel out of place. Of course, wearing heels means that you will be comfortable walking around in them even for extended periods. Keep in mind that you may be visiting areas with rocky or sandy terrain.
Dress appropriately or even conservatively when visiting religious sights. Cover yourself, especially your knees and shoulders when going to places of worship as well. Full trousers or skirts will work well. The same holds true for shirts and tunics. Wear long sleeved tunics and shirts with collars or necks that sit well, without exposing your neck or shoulders unnecessarily. Bear in mind that you may not be allowed access to certain areas if you are not dressed appropriately.
