SOS Staffing Services Inc. (originally SOS Temporary Services/Salt Lake Office Service) was founded December 15, 1972 and opened for business on January 15, 1973 by Richard D. Reinhold and Russell C. Christen in Salt Lake City, Utah. After years of working in the staffing industry, the two entrepreneurs decided to start their own staffing business; they placed their first temporary at a Salt Lake transport company, and the SOS legacy was born. The innovative company became profitable after only one year of operation. But that was just the beginning - after its second year, SOS was recognized as the largest independent temporary service in Utah. SOS's phenomenal rate of growth continued throughout the next ten years, and by 1983, SOS had obtained an even greater market share by opening offices throughout Utah.
