Ultimate Staffing is seeking a NOC TECHNICIAN -Tier 1 to join its client, who is the nation’s leading satellite TV provider with more than 18 million customers.

This position is in our clients' Network Operations Center in Englewood, CO
Hours: Full time 7 am – 3:30 pm.
Sunday to Thursday
Tuesday to Saturday
Hourly rate: $22-24
General Job Functions
Monitor and test Data Center and Network performance and provide performance statistics and reports
Strong troubleshooting experience within OSI Layers 1-5 with the ability to operate network component analyzers, scanners, sniffer, packet capture software, and test equipment.
Diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software Infrastructure problems in a timely and accurate fashion
Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems, server problems, or other data center issues.
Planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal downtime
Support development and implementation of projects and new technology installations
Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Recommend, schedule, and perform improvements, upgrades, and repairs
Collaborate with engineers to create optimal network design topologies and configurations
Other projects and assignments as needed
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 6-8 years equivalent work experience
Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment required
Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self motivated and directed
Attention to detail required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
Availability for shift work required
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components required
Ability to lift and transport heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as switches and routers as required
Certifications in Cisco and/or any network related certificates
One to three years of system administration experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of training users in network, applications and operating system fundamentals and writing basic documentation.
Network Requirements
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including SONET, TCP/IP, ATM, Packet Over SONET
Maintain all network hardware and equipment, including ADMs, ATM Switches, Cisco & Juniper routers, switches, hubs, and edge devices
General Circuit knowledge ISDN, T1, OC3, GigE, 10Gig
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of networking contracts and vendor relations
Work with Broadcast Operations Center team to meet availability numbers
Systems Requirements
High skill with most operating system commands/utilities
Familiarity with most basic system administration tools and processes; for example, can boot/shut down a machine, add and remove user accounts, use backup programs and fsck or chkdsk, maintain system database files (groups, hosts, aliases, user manager)
Fundamental understanding of an operating system; for example, understands job control, soft and hard links or shortcuts, distinctions between the kernel and the user environment
Familiarity with networked/distributed computing environment concepts; for example, can use the route command or administer routing and remote access service, add a workstation to a network, and mount remote file systems
Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, VBScript, a shell).
Programming experience in any applicable language
Administers a small, uniform site alone or assists in the administration of a larger system.
Works under the general supervision of a system administrator or computer systems manager
Experienced with HP/Dell/IBM and other rack mounted server systems
Experienced with Cisco and other network related hardware
