The Washington Times began the new year with a major staff reduction by laying off twenty editorial staffers. The layoffs, which were expected, came from David Jackson, who recently took over the newspaper in November 2012. Several sections of the paper were impacted by the staff reduction, including the arts and books section, the national weekly section, the sports pages, the copy desk, and the photo department.
