When it has become difficult to bear the spiraling production costs, Cirque du Soleil can only think in terms of layoffs, and that’s what it is precisely going to do by this month end. Besides, the company has also taken a decision to shut down four of the 19 shows worldwide. With the Canadian dollar getting stronger, it’s tough for the firm to manage its expenses in Canada, particularly when 95 percent of its revenue comes from the United States and elsewhere.
