Travel Manager Jobs

Travel managers usually work from retail outlets offering consumer or business travel products. Their primary responsibilities include sales development, staff/financial management, and daily operational management. Experienced travel managers could work in specific functions such as product development or marketing.
Travel managers must be able to offer specialist, professional, and competitive travel products as online bookings, consumer knowledge, and individually tailored travel needs make theirs a highly competitive environment.
All travel managers are responsible for developing strategies to hit or exceed sales targets, regardless of the size of the outlet or products offered. Tasks can include: promoting and marketing the business; managing budgets and maintaining statistical/financial records; selling travel products and tour packages; sourcing products and destinations; taking part in familiarisation visits to new destinations; liaising with travel partners to manage bookings and schedules often one year in advance; dealing with customer enquiries and aiming to meet their expectations; and overseeing the smooth, efficient running of the business.
While managing staff, travel managers: constantly motivate the sales team to hit their targets and thus ensure the profitability of the company; meet regularly with team leaders to give them sales figures and plan how they approach their work; meet company directors who advise on strategy and find out about any local issues and future trends; oversee the recruitment, selection, and retention of staff, payroll matters, and staff training; organize incentives, bonus schemes, and competitions; communicate with sales consultants and provide encouragement, help, and advice; and deal with disciplinary matters and customer complaints.
