An power company by the name of Zachry High Voltage is creating new job opportunities in Lubbock, Texas.
The relatively new company is helping to make wind power a larger player in the local economy. Zachry is currently engaged in creating a generating station for a company called Golden Spread.
The generators being used can become operational with as little as 15-minutes advance notice, a promising feature which makes the use of wind-based power more viable.
“That compares with some of your much larger facilities; that time could be anywhere from 3 hours to nine hours,” said Michael Lake of Zachry High Voltage.
