Des Moines-based Kemin Industries has announced a plan for a $30 million expansion, hoping to create 98 new positions by the end of the five-year plan.
“The company’s expansion will create new jobs at a time when job creation is one of our most important objectives, and will help sustain our strong local economy,” said Frank Cownie, Des Moines Mayor. “This is the kind of new development we hoped for when we designed the MLK road expansion across the Des Moines River on the southeast side of the city. The goal was to encourage development in this area and increase the City’s tax base. The road expansion is a big investment that is not finished yet, but is already beginning to pay off.”
