The filming for the movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island has created 250 job openings in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Among the required positions are carpenters, artisans, extras, gaffers (head electricians), best boys (assistant gaffers), and grips (arrangers of props and lights).
“This particular production needed a water tank for filming, which we have here. Obviously, if we have local crew, which we do, then that lowers their cost of doing business. If we have soundstages then that gives them a proper facility to work in, instead of going to a warehouse,” said Johnny Griffin, director of the Wilmington Regional Film Commission.
