MTS Systems is cutting 150 jobs, or 6% of its workforce, the company has announced.
The Eden Prairie, Minnesota firm, which makes testing systems for manufacturers, said the move is in response to a slowdown in demand for its products.
The job cuts will include a combination of layoffs and elimination of open positions.
MTS Systems manufactures mechanical test systems, material testing, fatigue testing and tensile testing services as well as motion simulation system and calibration services.
MTS Systems reported last month that new orders dropped 23% for Q1, compared to the previous year. However, the company’s Q1 profit rose 17% to $9.8 million.
