The city of Carrollton, Texas has announced a hometown economic stimulus plan that will include creating temporary city jobs.
Details, including costs, are still being worked out.
City officials said they will create a Carrollton Works Progress Program inspired by the 1935 Works Progress Administration to create public jobs for the unemployed.
The city also plans to have a job fair and maintain a job resource Web site as part of the program. Job seekers can visit the city’s Web site for job search resources, classified ads and career information. The site will be updated to assist job seekers in preparing resumes, interviewing and finding employment.
The city job fair would be free to employers to encourage even small companies to participate.
