Omega Cabinetry Cutting 100 Jobs in Iowa By Erik Even | Dated: 02-18-2009

Omega Cabinetry is cutting 100 jobs at its plant in Waterloo, Iowa, citing the nationwide downturn in home construction.

More than 800 workers will remain. Omega Cabinetry is owned by MasterBrand Cabinets, which is part of Fortune Brands.

MasterBrand Cabinets President Greg Stoner says the economic environment has significantly affected consumers of its products, reducing both kitchen remodeling projects and construction of new homes.

Iowa Workforce Development officials say many of the Omega Cabinetry workers were laid off on Tuesday.
