South African Wants Wal-Mart to Hire Back 500 Former Massmart Employees

Massmart had sacked 500 employees last year, and now Wal-Mart has proposed to takeover Massmart on the condition that they rehire the sacked employees. South Africa’s Competition tribunal is hearing the testimony on whether to allow Wal-Mart to buy 51% of Massmart. After a week of testimony, the tribunal hearings are expected to conclude on Monday.
