School district has pay cuts to avoid layoffs

Northwest Allen County Schools cuts pay to members of its classified staff, including custodians, secretaries, nurses and drivers by 3 percent to avoid additional employee layoffs. Board member Paul Sloffer said that NACS is planning to balance its budget over a number of years in order to avoid additional employee layoffs. District administrators and NACS teachers took a 3 percent reduction in pay last year. President Ron Felger thanked all employee groups for agreeing to this combined reduction in pay.
