As many as 90 new jobs could be created, if projects proposed by Jersey Central Power & Light are approved.
The utility company has applied with New Jersey’s utility regulator to launch $51 million worth of infrastructure and energy efficiency projects. These include minimizing power outages and installing more efficient street lights.
The projects must be approved by the Board of Public Utilities, and would result in one-year rate increases of an estimated $1.23 to $3.69 on typical residential monthly bills.
If approved, the projects could begin later this year and continue through mid-2010.
