Federal Way, Washington-based forest products manufacturer Weyerhaeuser will indefinitely close four mills and permanently close five service centers, affecting about 480 jobs.
The mills are in Evergreen, Alabama; Dodson and Simsboro, Lousiana; and Chavies, Kentucky.
The service centers are in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; and Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada.
Demand for wood products continues to decline due to the housing market, and the company’s facilities are operating at reduced levels.
