Small Firms and Job Openings By jim  |  Dated: 04-14-2012

Employment for small businesses has become higher than it has been in several years, since January of 2009 to be exact. A new study showed this information, which provides proof that the recovery of the United States is a work in progress but that progress is being made. The state of Ohio followed the new trend, adding more available positions and hiring more employees at different small businesses in the area. However, there are some business groups that believe there are not enough jobs being added to make much of a difference, especially when it comes down to the unemployment rate.

An executive director who works for the National Federal of Independent Business for the state of Ohio, Roger Geiger, believes that the state should not begin celebrating the additional jobs and hiring just yet. Geiger believes that at this point, it is still premature to assume a recovery is occurring in full force for the state. He believes that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done before the economy for the state improves drastically.

In the meantime, the study shows that more small businesses are creating additional positions, hiring new workers, and giving them more hours. And, to top it all off, employees are beginning to earn slightly more than they used to earn, or are now given the opportunity to work full-time whereas when they first started, they may have only been offered a part-time position.

With new jobs available, the employment rate is beginning to decrease and more people are finding work. Small business job creation numbers are increasing, even if they are just slightly increasing; any progress is appreciated, especially for those who have been desperately seeking work for quite a while and have finally been given the opportunity to work within one of the many small businesses that are hiring.

In between the months of November through March, nearly 550,000 jobs were added for small business alone. And, prior to those months, 300,000 different jobs were added within the small businesses. And, with small businesses flourishing, this could be a good sign for larger businesses as well. Small businesses are generally the first to start the additional hiring process and shortly after, larger companies tend to follow suit. While the recession definitely caused huge problems for the economy, it seems the recovery is finally working and changes are being made, for the better.

The job growth is quite encouraging for people in the United States but more jobs need to continue to be made, especially if the United States wants to return back to the days of full employment. Many people are optimistic about the job growth and have high hopes that more jobs will be created.

Testimonial of the Week

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
