Employers add job in California By jim  |  Dated: 04-19-2012

The job market for the state of California is showing some improvement during the month of March, with employers adding even more jobs. This is a good sign that even though improvements have been slow, they have been steady. Employers in the state of California have actually been adding more jobs steadily for the past eight months. From the last month, the payroll increased by 18,200. The information as released by the California Employment Development Department. And, along with these added jobs, during the month of February, there was an increase of 38,600 jobs.

The unemployment rate during the month of March did increase to 11%, which was just slightly higher than its rate during February, when it was at 10.9%. However, because employment seems to be improving, many hard workers in California are on the hunt for a job again, believing that they will be able to find employment this time around, especially since there are so many available jobs being added. Many people in the state believe that now is a good time to look for work, especially when employers are adding more positions.

Over the past year, there have been nearly 200,000 jobs added for the state of California. And while jobs have been added, the unemployment rate for the state is still higher than the unemployment rate average for the United States, which is currently at 8.2%. California is one of the only states, along with Nevada and Rhode Island, to have an unemployment rate in the double digits as of lately. There are still 2 million people living in California who are, unfortunately, still unemployed.

Some people have been actively searching for work for several months, even nearly an entire year. Many of these people are even willing to do jobs that they normally would not apply for simply because they are in desperate need of work. And still, even with the struggle that they have had to deal with, many residents in the California area are still optimistic about finding work.

The current jobs added during the month of March were spread out between numbers of different industries, which included the hospitality sector. Restaurants are beginning to boom as the economy improves. More people are eating out at restaurants, which leads to a demand for more workers. Other sectors in which jobs were added include business services, health services, and financial services.

Some of the job sectors, unfortunately, dealt with losses of available jobs, which included the construction sector and manufacturing sector. The construction sector has been struggling for quite a while in the state of California, with jobs being lost and not enough available jobs being created for those who work in this particular field.
