A study was recently released, which happened to be the SAE International Salary Study. This study showed that there has been strength in several different industries around the country and around the world, particularly in the transportation and mobility industry.  The Manager at the SAE International, Bill Cariello, says that the transportation industry is finally getting out of the recession and jobs are finally being made available, which means more people are being hired. And, current hiring patterns prove that this is generally good news for employees and employers. Not only are more jobs being made available, the amount of income employees are earning has increased as well. The study basically proves that there has been a commitment to helping the engineering community, especially during such a sluggish point in time, after dealing with such a huge recession that crippled the economy in the United States.

Of course, the amount an individual earns, based on their salary, will vary depending upon where they are located. Those with engineering positions saw an increase in their salary, from $89,700 during 2010 up to $91,800 during this year of 2012. That would be a total increase of approximately 2.3 percent. Engineers that are located in the United States are doing even better than the set global average, which means they are earning base salaries of nearly $101,700 throughout this year. That would mean they saw an increase of 6.3 percent in the span of just two years. Many of the mobility industries in the United States have seen an increase in available position and in the amount of money earned on a yearly basis by thee employees. The automotive industry has also managed to see an increase of 10%, which is definitely considered healthy. Aerospace engineers are also doing equally as well.

However, mobility professionals that did not live or work in the United States did not have nearly as much luck. In fact, the average salary had decreased in the span of two years, once being at about $74,900 during 2010 but now at about $70,500 two years later, in 2012. This year, the SAE International has decided to publish the statistical salary data based on each country. Overall, the country with the highest engineering salaries is Germany, followed by the United States, Australia, Japan, and Canada.

There are other signs of an improved economy as well. Out of all the full-time employees in the United States, only about half of them said that they had to deal with pay cuts and benefits cuts, which was a major decline from the 81% who said they had to deal with in 2010. It seems that available employment and earned income from employment is improving in the United States and many other countries around the world, which would include Asia, Canada, and Europe.
