Bassett Furniture Cutting 50 Jobs

Bassett Furniture Industries is eliminating 50 jobs company-wide and closing a warehouse.The company’s headquarters in Bassett, Virginia will see ten of the jobs cut.
The 50 positions are in corporate retail, administration, customer service, manufacturing and marketing.
Bassett has about 260 employees locally and 1,300 company-wide.
In February, Bassett reported its sales were down nearly 19% for Q4 2008, and 2.4% for the year.
