Budget crisis at Orleans Juvenile Court results in layoffs

New Orleans Juvenile Court has seen a cut of over $872,000 from it’s $2.7 million budget. This will result in 31 juvenile court employees being laid off from next week. Chief Judge Ernestine Gray says that court will use it’s reserve funds to retain those employees on a contract basis, but they will no longer be eligible for the city’s retirement plan.
