400 Layoffs at Hemlock Semiconductor Now Permanent

Michigan-based silicon products firm, Hemlock Semiconductor Corp., has confirmed that the layoff of 400 employees announced in January at sites in Tennessee is now permanent. The layoffs affected 300 workers at a Clarksville site, Tenn., and another 100 employees at its home base in Saginaw County’s Thomas Township. However, the job cuts seem to be caused by unsolved trade disputes.
