The Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada, opened late week with its first game, creating several hundred new jobs.
The park is the home of the Triple-A Reno Aces in the MiLB Pacific Coast League. Aces Ballpark is located next to the Truckee River, and is the centerpiece of a planned downtown Reno redevelopment effort, named the Freight House District. It has an attendance capacity of 9,100 seats.
Reno’s unemployment rate hit 11.2% in March, one of the worst in the nation.
At Friday’s first game, the Reno Aces beat the Salt Lake Bees by a score of 11-1.
The team is the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
