Hanesbrands Laying Off 250 White Collars, 250 Blue

Hanesbrands will lay off 500 employees in corporate management and in distribution.Two hundred and fifty management employees will get notices this week; 200 of them based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Hanesbrands will also lay off 40 employees from its Winston-Salem distribution center, which will shutter in March 2010. The remaining 200 workers will be laid off at that time.
The company will also terminate its contract with a third-party distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida, affecting 10 Hanesbrands employees.
Employees affected by the layoffs will receive severance and outplacement.
