MTD Consumer Products Eliminates 480 Jobs

MTD Consumer Products, which manufactures Cub Cadet lawn mowers, is shutting down its Brownsville, Tennessee plant, eliminating 200 full-time jobs and 280 seasonal jobs.The plant will close down on July 10th. Its manufacturing will be moved to other MTD locations.
MTD’s Brownsville employees are members of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union.
MTD Products, of Cleveland, Ohio, was founded in 1932, and is a family-owned, private company. They began as tool and die makers, and now are manufacturers of outdoor power equipment for the mass market.
