New York State Loses 189,000 Jobs in 9 Months By Erik Even  |  Dated: 05-22-2009
New York flagThe State of New York lost 189,000 private sector jobs between August 2008 to April 2009, according to the state labor department.

New York’s April unemployment rate stayed flat at 7.7%. It was 4.9% in April 2008.

New York City’s rate was also nearly unchanged from March, at 8%. It was 5% a year ago.
