Update: Cessna Announces 1,300 Layoffs

Cessna Aircraft will lay off another 1,300 people. The manufacturer of corporate jets has halved its workforce since the recession began.Eight hundred people will see pink slips by June 19th. It will furlough its remaining employees between June 22nd and July 17th.
Then another 500 will get laid off.
The firm is responding to order cancellations. It delivered 69 jets in Q1 2009, compared to 95 jets in Q1 2008.
The Cessna Aircraft Company is an airplane manufacturing corporation headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. Their main products are general aviation aircraft. Although they are the most well-known for their small, piston-powered aircraft, they also produce business jets. The company is a subsidiary of the US conglomerate Textron.
