Mayors Choose Green Jobs Group for $550,000 Grant

The US Conference of Mayors has chosen the Milwaukee Conservation Leadership Corps to receive a $550,000 grant to support and expand training for green jobs.The Milwaukee Conservation Leadership Corps is operated by the Student Conservation Association, the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board and Johnson Controls. Since 2006, over 150 urban high school students have completed more than 25,000 hours of paid conservation service to Milwaukee public lands.
The program has expanded to Baltimore and Detroit, and in 2009 will expand to China, the United Kingdom, Germany, India and Mexico.
