1,000 Show Up for 160 Resort Jobs

The Newberg, Oregon Allison Inn & Spa opens in September, and so far 1,000 people have applied for the 85-room resort’s 160 service positions.

A job fair was held this week in Newberg. Applicants waited in a three-hour queue to interview for front desk, restaurant, bar, spa and maintenance & engineering positions.

Oregon’s unemployment rate of 12.4% is the second worst nationally.

Located in the Portland metropolitan area, Newberg is home to George Fox University. The 2007 census estimate is 21,675 residents.
