The City of Cincinnati will announce this week both cuts in services, and layoffs of an undisclosed number of its 6,000 city employees.
The City Manager will inform the City Council this week of the positions he proposes to cut. It is yet unknown if police or firefighters will be targeted.
Several hundred municipal employees may be cut.
The 2008 population of Cincinnati was 333,336. There are approximately 6,000 full-time employees working for the City. Approximately 1,800 of the 6,000 employees are police officers or firefighters. An additional 2,000 employees are hired in the summer to work in the Parks and Recreation Departments.
