Massachusetts School District Layoffs Due to Accounting Error

Massachusetts’ Bourne School Department has laid off four teachers and a nurse, due to a lack of funds caused by an accounting error.Three elementary school teachers and a middle school teacher lost their jobs. The layoffs were made by seniority.
Also, two assistant principals are being reassigned as teachers.
Bourne is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. The population was 18,721 at the 2000 census.
