50 City Workers In Oceanside Facing Possible Layoffs

The Oceanside City Council is set to vote on a proposal regarding spending cuts that would save the city $7.2 million over two years. Up to 50 city workers are facing layoffs as the city faces a $10 million deficit.The spending cuts were recommended by City Manager Peter Weiss.
The layoffs are coming in response to a $5 million dollar deficit. According to city councilman Jerry Kern, the situation is “pretty depressing.”
