Pilgrim’s Pride Cutting 230 Jobs, Mostly in Texas

Pilgrim’s Pride, a producer of chicken products, is cutting 230 administrative and corporate jobs. The company recently emerged from chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and sold a majority of its business to the US branch of the Brazillian beef industry giant JBS. The job cuts are part of a reorganization plan consolidating operations at JBS’s headquarters in Colorado.160 of the affected jobs will be in Mt Pleasant, Texas, with the remainder coming from a dozen locations including Dallas and Atlanta.
