Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, a casino and dog track in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. plans to create 500 additional jobs this year in response to the recent legalization of table games in the state. The facility currently has 2,466 slot machines and employs about 1,000 people.
In addition to the new jobs, Mohegan Sun will also open a dealer school. Local media reports that about half of the new jobs will be in table games, while other positions will be in food, beverage, valet services, security and cashiering in the slots area.
Mohegan Sun plans to introduce table games, including blackjack and craps, by this summer. The move was made possible when Gov. Ed Rendell signed legislation legalizing the games in Pennsylvania earlier this month.
