Blockbuster Inc. has laid off an unspecified number of employees in its corporate staff in Dallas. A spokeswoman for the company declined to identify the total number of layoffs, but told Dallas News it was “a small fraction of its 3,000 employees in Dallas-Fort Worth.”
The moves come as part of a restructuring effort by the movie-rental chain. Blockbuster has been in the process of closing stores and adding kiosks in an attempt to better compete with such companies as Netflix and Redbox.
