Boeing to Lay Off 1,020

Today Boeing issued 60-day lay off notices to 1,020 workers nationwide. The bulk of the lay offs will be in the states of Washington and California. Boeing also laid off workers in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Most of the impacted employees in Washington and California work in information technology as part of Boeing’s Engineering, Operations & Technology unit. The last day of work for these employees will be April 23.These lay offs are a part of Boeing’s plan to cut 10,000 jobs throughout the company, including 1,000 jobs in its defense division. Boeing is a major aerospace and defense company with headquarters in Chicago.
