Having to face a $555 million budget gap, D.C. mayor Adrian Fenty’s budget proposal is slated to reduce hundreds of city jobs.
“There probably will be in excess of five to six hundred positions that will be eliminated in the government. That’s just the types of tough decisions you have to make, not just in an economy but when you’re running a government the size of the D.C. government. And that’s what I was elected to do,” said Fenty.
Fenty’s budget proposal would decrease local spending by 2.8 percent, scale back some social programs, and freezes the pay of some district workers.
Fenty is scheduled to testify before the city council on April 12.
I was very pleased with the TravelingCrossing. I found a great position within a short amount of time … I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a better opportunity.
