Utah Reaches 26-Year Unemployment High

Despite the rate of unemployment slowing down in Utah, a 26-year high has been hit for the month of March, 2010.Since March of last year alone, 22,500 jobs have been lost in the Beehive state.
Workforce Services economist Lecia Langston emphasised the importance of the slowing job-loss rate. “That’s a good sign, although we have not gotten to growth yet,” said Langston.
“Temp agencies are starting to come back,” Langston continued. “That’s one of the first signs you get of a recovery.”
The only industries that have been so far immune to job losses have been health care, education, and government. The most severe losses have occurred in manufacturing, construction, professional and business services, and trade.
