The President Casino in downtown St. Louis, Missouri has informed employees, the city, and union officials this week that they intend to layoff approximately 220 workers sometime after June 28.
The move comes as no surprise, as the Las Vegas-based parent company Pinnacle Entertainment agreed back in March to surrender their gaming license over to the Missouri Gaming Commission. In addition to decreasing revenues, the gaming commission had concerns about the aging Admiral riverboat that the President Casino utilizes being in poor shape.
About 160 of the employees have already taken up positions at other local casinos also owned by Pinnacle.
