TechAmerica Foundation, an lobbying group for the technology industry, has released a report showing that last year approximately 245,600 jobs were lost in that sector.
While seemingly astounding in quantity, this amount represents a 4 percent decline compared to the private sector dropping 5.2 percent employment as a whole for last year.
“While it weathered the storm better than the private sector at large, the U.S. high-tech industry clearly felt the effect of the recession in 2009,” said Phil Bond, President of TechAmerica.
Some signs of improvement can be seen though, such as the last quarter of 2009 having overall positive growth with 10,000 technology jobs being added.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
