Minnesota Jobs Report Shows Gain

Minnesota officials announced that the state added 10,200 jobs in April, reports the Associated Press. In addition, the state boasted the widest gap on record between its unemployment rate and the national average. The current index puts the North Star State’s unemployment rate at 7.2 percent.According to the AP post, job gains were most evident in the trade, transportation and utilities sector. In addition, the public sector saw an increase in government and education workers.
Despite being well ahead of the national average, Minnesota job levels are well below what they have been both historically and before the current recession. There are still 134,000 fewer jobs, according to the AP, than there were pre-recession and approximately 214,000 Minnesotans are still out of work.
