Two Michigan Auto Factories To See Money From Ford

The Associated Press: Ford has announced plans to invest $135 million in two Detroit factories. Ford plans to use the factories to build a new generation of transmissions for its hybrids and battery packs for its electric cars. The plan will create over 200 jobs in the next two years

What makes this announcement unusual? The company currently makes these parts abroad. That’s right. Ford has decided to bring jobs back to the US. According to the AP, the decision was the result of a deal cut with the United Auto Workers union. Let’s keep an eye open to see if similar deals are made between the union and other US auto manufacturers.
