The editorial department for the Sun Times Media’s Pioneer Press has been trimmed by three positions, the company told the Chicago Tribune Monday.

The cuts are with the company’s weekly suburban newspapers. The Chicago Newspaper Guild, which represents the newsroom workers at Pioneer Press, told the Tribune “we’re naturally disappointed any time the company elects to downsize, especially when it takes feet of the street.”

Several rounds of cuts have been made at the company’s media properties since it was saved from liquidation by Kim Tyree and other local investors last October. Pioneer Press said the layoffs are the result of constant evaluation of the company’s personnel and publications’ needs.
