Companies In Northern New Jersey Issue More Than 400 Layoffs

Employees in North New Jersey are facing 441 layoffs across various companies. President Container Group, Toshiba, and various other manufacturers of cardboard packaging and cosmetics are among those affected.Laid off employees were given 60 days notice, as is required by the WARN act, a federal mandate requiring employers with 100 or more employees to give workers 60 days notice of plant closings and mass layoffs.
A principal at President Container Group, Larry Grossboard, claims that the company had outgrown their current facilities. He added that a relocation was two years in the making.
President Container Group will cut 234 workers and Toshiba will lay off 60 employees.
