Layoff News
The Houston Business Journal is reporting Hines Nurseries LLC has sent a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission informing the agency the company plans to lay off 160 workers at its Richmond location.
According to the letter, Hines Nurseries California-based parent company, Hines Horticulture Inc., plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is hoping for ‘debtor in possession’ financing. The Business Journal reports that without the financing, the layoffs would take place Oct. 11; with financing and the layoffs would be put off until December.
Hines, which previously filed for Chapter 11 in August 2008, operates one of the largest commercial garden nurseries in North America.
