Chicago-based Groupon Inc. is receiving a $3.5 million state-based business investment that will translate to 250 new jobs at the company.
The nation’s leading social shopping website, Groupon is one of the fastest growing companies in Illinois. They have gone from having seven employees in 2008, to more than 900 now at their Chicago headquarters, and over 2,500 worldwide.
Administering the $3.5 million investment package is the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which consists of corporate tax income credits over the next 10 years, and job training funds to enhance worker skills.
The increasingly popular website offers daily deals by leveraging the power of group purchases.
