An Ohio-based company which produces a product to kill airborne germs is moving to Syracuse with 100 job openings being offered.

Haledyne was founded in 2007 and  is in the process of commercializing a device which combines airflow technology with ultraviolet light to destroy bacteria and viruses, explains CEO Dr. John Zak.

Zak goes on to describe hospitals and health care facilities as the main market for his companies device, as they are facing pressures to both deal with infection control and energy efficiency.

Commenting on current technology which works by cycling large amounts of air through a room, Zak said, “We don’t see that as a sustainable option. Hospitals are already one of the largest consumers of energy. We need to look to other methodologies and technologies.”
