Layoff News
Job cuts are coming at the University of Missouri Extension in Columbia, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. Due to an anticipated drop in funding from the state, MU Extension officials said they will eliminate 19 jobs in order to trim about $2.7 million from the budget.
The job cuts will come through several moves, including the “realignment’ of the schools Center for Distance and Independent Study and MU Direct, which is the university’s for-credit e-learning programs, the Business Journal reports.
Additionally, the university’s three public radio stations will be transferred to the Office of Administrative Services; and the Missouri Film Office, which helps to bring filmmakers to the state, will join the Office of the vice provost for economic development.
According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the changes will reflect a nearly 16 percent reduction in MU Extension’s budget.
