San Diego-based PETCO Animal Supplies is opening a Satellite Support Center in San Antonio that will have around 400 employees earning an average salary of $58,000 a year.
The office will be the first outside of the West Coast for the pet company, which has a thousand stores spread across all 50 states.
“We’re an organization that really believes in giving people careers, not jobs,” Charlie Piscitello, PETCO senior vice president of human resources, told KENS5.com.
PETCO will receive $3.1 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund to help with the $17 million price tag for the San Antonio office. Employees are expected to begin work there in the middle of next summer.
