About 30 new jobs are on the way as Zeroloft, a Toronto-based factory that insulates clothing, builds its new plant at a former silk mill in Elberton, Georgia. The factory is expected to generate over 30 new jobs once its operation starts within a year. The factory will be built in the newly purchased building located near where the Georgia highways 72 and 17 converge at Elbert Street. The building was the former commercial warehouse of Glen Raven Inc.

Anna Grant Jones, the director of the Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman, said that the Zeroloft bought the building because it fits the factory needs. Jones also expressed her excitement over the project since the new jobs will increase the state’s employment rate. “It was actually excellent news – and at Christmastime. Everybody’s thrilled to have some more jobs here.” Based on the data of Georgia’s Department of Labor, Elberton County’s unemployment rate is one of the highest in the region, which is currently at 14%.

Jones added that Rob Abramovitch, President of Zeroloft, wants to start the hiring process as soon as possible. Jones revealed that the factory will be operational later this year. She also said that Zeroloft will be entitled to tax credits. “Zeroloft will take advantage of Georgia’s tax credits for new companies that hire at least five full-time workers with benefits. The company will be able to earn $4,000 in tax credits per new employee per year for five years.”
